USES :
Dicloxacillin is used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and staphylococcal infections. Amoxicillin is one among the penicillin group of antibiotics which is prescribed during the treatment for bacterial infections. Amoxicillin is of great benefit for tonsil pain relief, treatment for sinus infection, genital and urinary tract infection, teeth and gum infections, respiratory tract infections, and it is a common antibiotic for many bacterial infections.
How does the drug work?
Dicloxacillin is a beta-lactamase resistant penicillin. It exerts bactericidal action by inhibiting the biosynthesis of bacterial cell wall by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins. Dicloxacillin inhibits bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes, autolysins that cause cell lysis. Amoxicillin interferes with the production of the bacterial cell wall; it weakens and ruptures the cell wall of the bacteria thereby killing them.
What are the common side effect?
The common side effects of dicloxacillin are shortness of breath, skin rash, stomach upset, sunburn, constipation, diarrhea, vaginal infection, photosensitivity, and wheezing. The common side effects associated with amoxicillin include nausea and vomiting, headache, allergic reaction, rash, diarrhea, stomach pain, vaginal itching, and vaginal discharge.

• Patients allergic to amoxicillin or any other penicillin should avoid Abclox tablet.
• Abclox is unsafe during pregnancy. It may affect fetus growth. Consult the doctor before using the Abclox drug during pregnancy
• Abclox may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills, so patients are suggested to follow other safety precautions to avoid pregnancy,
• Maintain a minimum of 4 hours lag between each Abclox medication. Do not take two doses in 1 hour.
• Do not stop the medication in the middle of the treatment; even after feeling better, as the Abclox side effects may get worsen.
• Consult the doctor before taking Abclox tablet if breast feeding.
